Oral Pathology

Oral Pathology in Manteca CA
At Aura Family Dentistry, we dedicate ourselves to providing comprehensive dental care, including diagnosing and treating disorders that require more than your everyday cleanings and fillings. We encourage you to put your trust in the hands of our compassionate, friendly team. When you experience changes in the lining of your mouth, such as sores on your gums or general irritation, Dr. Damle will examine your symptoms, make a diagnosis, and fully explain your treatment options to help improve and restore your oral health.

What Is Oral Pathology?
Oral pathology is a branch within dentistry that concentrates on disease. Because disease within your mouth may progress into advanced stages before you recognize a problem, making a checkup appointment every six months will allow us to monitor your health. When we catch problems early, we may prevent damage. We look for disease, such as mumps and salivary gland disorders. In addition, we can often detect pre-cancerous cells before they develop into oral cancer.

Dr. Damle will examine you for signs of oral disease, which may affect the following parts of your body:

  • Your lips
  • Your tongue
  • The lining of your mouth
  • The insides of your cheeks
  • Your neck
  • Your lips

What Are Common Oral Pathology Symptoms?
If you are between visits and notice a change in your mouth – even if you notice your mouth just feels different – call us for an appointment. Take a glance over the following list of common symptoms for a better understanding of oral pathology:

  • Sores that do not go away, or that bleed
  • Pain
  • Dry mouth
  • Irritation or ulcers
  • Infections that go away and return, or that never completely clear
  • Swelling
  • Red or white patches in your throat or under your tongue

What can I Expect ?
When you come in to Aura Family Dentistry with concerns about oral pathology, Dr. Damle will thoroughly examine your mouth and maxillofacial region. She will perform a visual screening and may complete her diagnosis with a biopsy, or a small tissue sample. Because many symptoms point to a variety of diseases, including oral cancer, we will typically send a biopsy to a lab to rule out oral cancer.

Am I a Good Candidate?
If you notice changes in your mouth, neck, or face, contact our practice at your earliest convenience. We know the idea of coming in for a diagnosis may make you feel hesitant about calling our team. However, we are committed to making your visit comfortable, while taking the time to speak with you about questions and concerns. Remember, the earlier you diagnose and treat an oral condition, the greater your chances of a full recovery and return to good health.
